Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Sell My Old Vinyl Records?

First contact us at We Buy Records and let us know about how many records you have, what styles of music they are and what area you are in. After we know this we can quickly make a plan to see the records and get you an offer as soon as possible! We can come to you or you can bring the records to our store. Typically we reserve house calls for larger collections (200-300 and up).

What Types of Records Do You Buy?

We buy LPs (large 12” records with covers), 45s (smaller 7” records, they don’t need sleeves) and 12” singles (large records with plain sleeves, one song per side). We do not buy 78s typically.

What Vinyl Records Are Valuable?

Rock, Soul, Jazz, Funk, Disco, Rap, Dance, Punk, Heavy Metal, New Wave, Latin, Reggae, Techno, House and Indie Rock. These genres will tend to have value if the conditions are good. How much value comes down to title, condition, rarity and demand. Every record has a different value based on these factors.

Easy Listening, Big Band, 50s pop, most Country, most Classical, Opera, Children, Polka and Christmas records tend to not have value, sadly.

How Much Do You Pay For Records?

We will get you the best offer for your records in town - as far as the actual amount, we need to see them. We can view them very quickly and get you an offer. All records have different values based on the title and the condition of the record itself, and for LPs the jacket condition as well. Older records are not necessarily more valuable. The sellers who make the most money from us typically have a larger collection of desirable records (the styles listed above that we buy) that are in good condition. We have spent $10,000 and more for really big, great condition collections in the past.
