Donate Vinyl Records in Chicago
Give Your Records a Second Life
Got classic rock, jazz, or R&B records you’re no longer spinning? We’re always looking for good-condition donations to keep great music alive.
We also accept a small amount of other genres—like classical, kids, country, or opera—as long as they’re mixed in with the genres we specialize in.
Before You Donate
To make sure your records are a good fit, please email or text us a few clear pics containing a handful of sample titles in each, with the covers visible. This quick step helps us confirm we can use your collection before you make the trip.
What Happens to Records We Can’t Use?
We’re selective about what makes it onto our shelves. If your donation includes records we don’t need (sometimes half or more of a batch), we make sure they don’t go to waste. Those records are passed along to Goodwill and other local charities, so the entire donation still supports the community.
Why Donate to Us?
Keep classic music circulating and appreciated by new listeners.
Easy drop-off at our Chicago location.
Transparent process: we’ll review sample photos and let you know what’s usable.
Peace of mind knowing the rest goes to local charities, not the dumpster.
A Note About Tax Deductions
We are not currently a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means donations made directly to We Buy Records are not tax-deductible. However, we’re exploring partnerships with local nonprofit organizations so that in the future, donors may be able to receive a tax-deductible receipt.
How to Get Started

FAQ
Do you accept every donation?
Not quite. We specialize in classic rock, jazz, and R&B. Other genres are fine in small amounts, but we can’t take in massive piles of easy listening or classical every day.
What happens to the records you don’t keep?
They’re donated to Goodwill or other local charities so nothing is wasted.
Are donations tax-deductible?
At this time, no. We’re not a 501(c)(3), but we’re exploring nonprofit partnerships that may allow for tax-deductible donations in the future.
